Stinky also quoted here in E&P."I don't foresee a day when (Detroit) does not support two newspapers," said William Dean Singleton, vice chairman and CEO of MediaNews Group, the new owner of The News. "We would not have come to Detroit to (oversee) the withering away of a newspaper."

On Wednesday, William Dean Singleton, vice chairman and CEO of MediaNews, vowed to build a stronger and better Detroit News and said there are no plans to cut the newspaper's staff or reduce benefits.
"Our job is to see that we kick butt here," he told a newsroom packed with staffers during a 4 p.m. announcement. "Things are not going to change much."
