Down to the wire
Hey Post Toasties:
We are just days away from the celebration and the "yes" file just keeps growing. If you haven't read the messages take a read through them. It's worth it. Whether or not you plan to attend the April 23 festivities please check out the blog created by Laura Haynes Weisman at: http://toastedposties.blogspot.com/. Words of wisdom from Leon Hale and memories of the Houston Post have been posted to the site.
For those of you planning on taking part in the celebration here is the current headcount: 139 Post Toasties have confirmed and 13 have said they are going to try and make it (this probably does not include James Campbell who told us today he would try to stop by for at least a few minutes once he heard Tom and Linda Nelson were coming). For those of you who have not responded one way or the other, please give a click "yes, maybe or no" so we can get a pretty solid head count because we need to let the folks at the Cadillac Bar know how much food we need (Pete Brewton: we figure you will be at the cash bar ignoring the food and grousing about the lousy atmosphere, blaming it on former President Bush and the CIA).
Don't forget April 23 -- celebration day -- starts at 10:30 a.m. with the panel discussion on "How Media Coverage Has Changed Since 1995" at the Jungman Branch Library, 5830 Westheimer. Call Jim Magill, SPJ president, at 713-658-3229 to RSVP.
Some people plan on bringing photo memories of their days at the Post to the reception. If you want to join in this type of trip down memory lane, please make sure your pics are marked so you don't lose them as they are passed around.
If anyone wants to get together Friday night for drinks or dinner, you can use the e-vite feature (e-mail guests, individuals or groups of individuals) with the links in the light blue box in the center of the e-vite page. That's it for now. E-vite, by the way, will send out an automatic reminder a week before the event . So please excuse the extra message in your e-mailbox.
